Our Story

Christina May was founded in 2000 by Bob and  Juliet after they discovered a large number of vintage soap moulds lying disused in a machinery workshop in a farm in Kent. This, combined with an old book on the science and alchemy behind making soap is how our story began.

What began as a retirement hobby and a fascination in the art of traditional soap making soon developed into a successful business, expanding into a large farm site in the heart of the Sussex countryside. As well as manufacturing soaps for the premium sector within the UK, Christina May exports to over 35 different countries over 6 continents.

Continuing in the family tradition, Bob and Juliet’s son Oliver joined the Christina May in 2012 as Managing Director with his wife Ailsa joining the company in 2016 as Operations Manager. The business went from strength to strength with the addition of manufacturing and packaging machinery and further expansion of production lines.

From our humble beginnings, we have always dedicated ourselves to creating luxury soap bars of the highest quality. Everything we make is crafted with care and commitment. We are proud that all Christina May products are made at our Sussex farm site; using traditional methods, combined with modern technology, our products have been lovingly finessed by our growing team of over 50 staff members.

Soaps of quality

The quality of Christina May soap relies on our superior recipe and manufacturing methods, and as a result, they are exceptionally high quality and long-lasting. They produce a richer lather and have a silkier, more luxurious effect on the skin.

Triple refined

To guarantee that the texture of the bar is smooth and silky we use a triple blending and refining process to ensure the soap mix is perfectly smooth before it goes to be pressed.

Pure vegetable oil base

Our soaps are created using the perfect mix of vegetable oils as a base in order to create a long-lasting bar with a luxuriant, silky lather.

Enriched with shea butter and glycerine

We add shea butter and glycerine to our soap mixes, making the soap bars supremely moisturising and nourishing for the skin.

Beautiful fragrance

Our method of manufacture allows a generous allowance of fragrance in the soap, which allows the fragrance to shine out through the packaging.

Sustainability

Since the start of Christina May, we have always prided ourselves on our philosophy towards sustainability, and continue to strive to improve our products, packaging and working methods, to reduce our carbon footprint, and make the planet a better place.
